Poker sites make money by raking pots. Every time you play a raked hand, the affiliate whose links or bonus codes led you to the poker site, is paid commission. In a rakeback plan the affiliate repays much of this commission to the player, who, after all, is the reason the affiliate is generating revenue. Typically, your rakeback accumulates as you play, and is added to your bankroll at set intervals (monthly for example). The more you play, the larger your rakeback payment; in essence rakeback players are paid back for their time at the tables.
